Website with solutions to physics exercises and problems and supplementary material for theoretical physics lectures and tutorials.

Welcome

My name is Marvin Zanke and I study physics at the University of Bonn in Germany, where my main field of interest is theoretical physics. I finished my Bachelor of Science in 2018 (supervisors: Dr. B. Kubis and Dr. C. Hanhart) and my Master of Science in 2020 (supervisors: Dr. B. Kubis and Dr. M. Hoferichter); currently, I am working on my Ph.D. thesis in the group of Dr. B. Kubis. Apart from this, I love to do sports and also program (mostly in Swift) in my free time.

Solutions to physics exercises and… well… other stuff

I will use this website to share material from my studies (that is, e.g., my handed-in solutions to physics exercises and thus especially not something that is to be taken to be correct without reflecting on it) and teaching jobs, as well as write about things that interest me. This might be something about programming, sports, or small brain teasers/riddles. For complementary material, see also Martin Ueding’s homepage.

Language and difficulty

As you already noticed, I try to keep the page in English — not only is English the international language of science, but all the material from my master’s courses is in English. The bachelor’s material is mostly in German, on the other hand, while some of the material from my semester abroad will be in Spanish.

I will use the scale on the left (top on some mobile devices) to rate the difficulty of the courses I took. This is, of course, something subjective and, in particular, might depend on the lecturer and chosen topics.

I will rarely use the greenest and reddest marker and in most of the cases stick to the three central ones. The scale starts from green being rather easy courses to red being really difficult. And by easy I still do not consider a course you will pass if you sleep during the lectures and do not attend the exercise groups. It is rather to be understood in relation to the other courses concerning time investment, the difficulty of the concepts and topics treated, and the exercise sheets.
